The Cyprus
Committee for Byzantine Studies was founded in 1961 by the Society
for Cypriot Studies and represents the Republic of Cyprus in the
International Association of Byzantine Studies.
Among members
who served in the KEBS representing the International Association of
Byzantine Studies included Constantinos Spyridakis, Andreas
Stylianou Theodore Papadopoullos Costas Kirris Athanasios
Papageorgiou Evangelos Chrysos, Dimitrios Triandafyllopoulos, George
Christodoulou, Andreas Mitsidis, Archimandrite Benediktos Ioannou
etc. KEBS managed to secure the conduct of the International
Byzantine Conference in Cyprus, but the realization of which was
prevented by the Turkish invasion of 1974.
